ASTM A234 WPB Segmental Butt-Weld Elbows, professionally termed gored elbows in piping engineering, are structurally fabricated pipe fittings engineered for large-scale industrial piping systems. All fabrication procedures comply strictly with ASME B16.9 governing rules and ASTM A234 WPB carbon steel material specifications. Unlike integrally hot-formed seamless elbows and monolithic plate-bent elbows limited by forming equipment and process constraints, segmental elbows are manufactured by precision CNC cutting of steel plates into standardized gore segments, precision fit-up and multi-joint full penetration welding. This segmented fabrication methodology solves the technical bottleneck of ultra-large-diameter and super-long radius bent fittings that cannot be integrally formed, serving as the preferred economical and reliable solution for heavy-duty industrial and municipal piping projects.
All raw materials are certified ASTM A234 WPB carbon steel plates with traceable mill test reports, featuring stable metallographic structure, qualified tensile properties and excellent weldability, which satisfy long-term service requirements of low and medium-pressure fluid transmission pipelines. During production, numerical control blanking ensures consistent dimensional tolerance and curvature uniformity of each segmented gore. Pre-assembly surface leveling and edge trimming are implemented to eliminate burrs and residual plate stress. Fit-up gap and axial misalignment are strictly controlled within ASME allowable tolerances to avoid structural distortion. The entire welding process is implemented in accordance with qualified WPS and PQR standards, adopting multi-layer and multi-pass symmetrical welding to suppress volumetric and planar discontinuities, ensuring compact weld microstructure and reliable structural integrity.
Our factory provides full-range customized fabrication for segmented elbows, covering standard 45°, 90° and 180° bending configurations. The bending radius and segment quantity can be optimized and manufactured strictly according to client engineering drawings. The product dimensional range covers DN600 to DN5000, compatible with standard SCH wall schedules and custom heavy-wall specifications with additional corrosion allowance. Widely applicable to municipal water conveyance, industrial ventilation, chemical process piping and large-scale pipeline renovation projects, all pipe ends are precision-machined to standard ASME butt-weld bevels with qualified root face and land size, guaranteeing full joint penetration during field installation and improving overall piping system tightness and operational safety.
A complete lot traceability and rigorous quality assurance system is enforced for all finished segmented elbows. Each production batch undergoes systematic dimensional verification, flatness calibration and visual surface inspection. All circumferential and longitudinal weld joints are 100% inspected via ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing to eliminate porosity, slag inclusion, incomplete fusion and other potential welding defects. Post-weld stress relief heat treatment and overall structural straightening are performed to mitigate welding residual stress and enhance structural stability and fatigue resistance. With mature manufacturing experience in ultra-large-diameter segmented pipe fittings, we provide standard seaworthy packaging and complete technical certification documents, delivering compliant, cost-effective A234 WPB segmented elbows for global EPC projects and industrial end-users.
English: ASTM A234 WPB butt weld segmented elbows adopt multi-segment splicing welding structure, available in 45°, 90° and 180° bending angles. Applicable for large diameter from DN600 to DN5000, matched with standard SCH wall thickness and custom heavy wall. All specifications are manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.9 standard to meet on-site piping construction demands.
